Privacy Policy

Last updated October 7, 2026

This policy explains what information the ScrollFoods app and scrollfoods.com collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. ScrollFoods is operated by ARX Technologies LLC, a Florida limited liability company (“we”, “us”). Questions: privacy@scrollfoods.com.

1. Information you give us

Your account. To sign up you give us an email address and a password. Sign-in is handled by our backend provider, Supabase.

Your profile. A username and display name, and if you choose, a bio, a town or city, and a link (a label and a URL). You also choose a personal or business account type. Your profile is visible to other people using ScrollFoods.

2. Videos, comments and activity

When you post, we store your video (up to 90 seconds), its optional caption, and the place you tag it to. Videos are stored and streamed by Cloudflare Stream. We also store the comments and replies you write, and your likes, comment likes and dislikes, saves, reposts, shares and follows.

Your posts, captions, tagged places and comments are visible to other people using ScrollFoods. You can edit a caption or tagged place, and delete your posts and comments, at any time. Deleting a post deletes the video from Cloudflare Stream.

Places. Restaurant and bar listings come from Foursquare Open Source Places and from places people add in the app. If you add a place, it becomes a public listing.

3. Location

With your permission, the app uses your device’s location to show videos of places nearby and how far away they are. It uses location only while you’re using the app, never in the background.

  • Your location is sent with each request to find nearby videos and is not stored.
  • When a view is counted, we store only a coarse distance band between you and the place (under 5 miles, 5–10, 10–25, 25–50, 50–100, or over 100 miles), never your coordinates.
  • You can type an area to search instead of sharing your location.

4. Device permissions and drafts

The app asks for these permissions only when you use a feature that needs them:

  • Camera and microphone, to record videos.
  • Photo library, to pick a video to post.
  • Location, while the app is in use, for the nearby feed.

Videos you save as drafts stay only on your phone. They aren’t uploaded unless you post them.

5. Engagement analytics

We record how people interact with videos in our own database: impressions, views, watch time, completions, taps on a place or on directions, and saves. We use this to count views and to give creators and businesses reports about how their videos perform.

  • Records tied to a viewer (which videos you viewed, watch time, and the distance band) are kept for 90 days after your last view, then deleted.
  • Technical event IDs used to avoid counting the same event twice are kept for 48 hours.
  • Over the long term we keep only daily totals per video (for example, how many times a video was viewed on a day), which don’t identify viewers.
[TO CONFIRM] Product analytics and crash reporting (PostHog) are planned before launch. Confirm with the app session whether they are used at launch, then describe them here (what’s collected, the provider, and any opt-out) or state that none is used.

6. Reports and blocks

You can report videos, comments and accounts. For each report we store who sent it, what was reported and who owns it, the reason, an optional note (up to 500 characters), the time, a review status, and a saved copy of what was reported so our team can review it even if it changes or is deleted:

  • For a video: the username, caption, place, and a reference to the video file (not a copy of the video).
  • For a comment: its text, the username, and the video it was on.
  • For an account: the username, display name and bio.

The person you report is never told who reported them. A video or comment you report is hidden for you, so we store a list of the items you’ve hidden.

When you block someone, we store who blocked whom and when. Blocking is silent: the other person isn’t notified.

[TO CONFIRM] How long reports are kept hasn’t been decided. Add the retention period here once it is.

7. This website

scrollfoods.com doesn’t use cookies, analytics or ad trackers. It’s hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request information (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

Early access waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this site, we store your email address, what you said you’re interested in (finding places, creating, or a business), and when you signed up. We use them only to tell you when ScrollFoods is available and to send launch news. The waitlist is kept by our email provider, Resend, and is separate from ScrollFoods app accounts. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your waitlist entry at any time by emailing privacy@scrollfoods.com.

If you email us, we use your email address and what you write to reply. Our email is provided by Google Workspace.

8. Who we share information with

We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use third-party ad tracking. We share information only:

  • With other people using ScrollFoods, as described above (your profile, posts, comments and places you add).
  • With service providers that run ScrollFoods for us and may use the information only to provide their service: Supabase (database, sign-in and server functions), Cloudflare Stream (video storage and streaming), Vercel (website hosting), Resend (waitlist and launch emails) and Google Workspace (email).
  • When the law requires it, or when needed to protect the safety of people, ScrollFoods or the public.
  • If our business changes hands, for example in a merger or sale, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
[LAWYER REVIEW] Confirm the list of service providers and the business-transfer wording.

9. How long we keep information

  • Your account, profile, posts and activity: until you delete them or delete your account.
  • Viewer-level analytics: 90 days after your last view. Event IDs: 48 hours.
  • Daily totals per video, which don’t identify anyone: kept long term.
  • Reports: kept for moderation and safety; see section 6.
  • Waitlist entries: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

10. Your choices and deleting your account

  • You can edit your profile and captions, and delete posts and comments, in the app at any time.
  • You can turn off location access in your phone’s settings and search by area instead.
  • You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or by emailing privacy@scrollfoods.com from the address on your account. See Delete your account for exactly what is deleted and what is kept.
  • To ask what information we hold about you, or to correct it, email privacy@scrollfoods.com. We’ll respond within the time the law requires.

When you delete your account, some information is kept without anything linking it to you:

  • Daily totals per video, and a minimal record that a deleted video existed (its date, place and length), used in business reports.
  • Places you added stay listed.
  • Reports you sent are kept for moderation without the link to you. Reports about you are kept without the link to your account, but the saved copy of the reported content (for example your username and caption) stays in the report as evidence.
[LAWYER REVIEW] Add any rights specific to where users live (for example, US state privacy laws or the GDPR if the app is offered outside the US).

11. Children

ScrollFoods is not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email privacy@scrollfoods.com and we’ll delete it.

12. Security and where data is stored

We use reputable providers and limit who on our team can access personal information. No service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong password that you don’t use anywhere else.

[TO CONFIRM] Which country or region the Supabase project and Cloudflare Stream store data in.

13. Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll let you know in the app before it takes effect.
